Sam's Grill · Guelph

Guelph is where Sam's lit its first grill — a limestone city on the Speed River that takes its food seriously and its neighbours more seriously still. It's a university town with a farmer's-market heart: students from the University of Guelph in the booths, families from the Royal City's old neighbourhoods at the long table, and a downtown skyline still anchored by the Church of Our Lady. Fifteen years on, regulars still say it: "I remember when there was just one location." This is that location.

Every Sam's Grill is run by the family that owns it — ours is no different. The Rajni family has been behind the counter in Guelph since 2011, pressing the patties, learning the regulars' names, and arguing (gently) about whether the Barnyard Burger is the best thing on the board. Come decide for yourself. If it's not good enough for my own table, it doesn't leave the kitchen. That's been the rule since we opened on Wellington Street in 2011. It's why the beef gets pressed by hand every morning, and why some nights a guest waits an extra four minutes for fries cut that day. Fifteen years on, it's still the only rule I care about.

Meet Rajni

Rajni lit a flat-top on Wellington Street in 2011 and made a simple promise: homemade food, made fresh every day, served warm to everyone at the table. Fifteen years and a lot of stores later, he's still the one running this counter, and the promise hasn't changed a word. Same grill, same hours, same standard. And you'll find him on the floor, not in the back.

Amazing food and great value. The burgers are juicy and satisfying, and the poutine is loaded and delicious. Sam’s Grill Guelph is easily one of my go to spots when I want comfort food done right.

Ordered off Uber and my order was missing the fries and portions were small, I gave them a call to advise and they made it right, and personally delivered what was missing and then some. A business that works with customers to fix an issue is great in my books. Thank you guys, food was very very good so I will order again!

Forgot to take pictures. Very good experience. The regular burger was a perfect size for us. Even though its 2 patties, its not over filling. We liked the burger better than the chicken burger. Fries were very good as well. We liked how everything was customizable. No set toppings youre stuck with or have to aks not to include or pick off. Our order came out very quickly.

19.50$ for a snack and a can of pop? Crazy. Straight up ripoff. Figured a regular poutine was comparable to a regular size literally anywhere else. Menu photos look much larger than the provided cat bowl. Price to portion size is a joke. Really light on the cheese and gravy, the last 1/3 was just dry fries. Picture scale - I wear a medium glove. lol.

Good staff and tasty burgers ,staff was patient while I chose my order, which I appreciated. But it was insanely hot inside; the AC clearly isn’t working, staff are sweating by the grills, and I couldn’t even sit and eat. I had to go back to my car. Owners need to fix that instead of just printing bills. And for a fact iknow it’s been like this for a long time.
